Energia Price Increase October 2026
Energia raised its residential electricity prices by 4.73% on . Electricity unit rates rose 4.73% and gas 9.38%. The standard 24-hour rate went to 43.50c/kWh and the urban standing charge from €265.01 to €278.27. With the combined new-customer discount now 26% (it was 30%), the 24-hour rate we track went from 29.85c to 32.19c/kWh. The EV Smart Drive charge-time rate rose to 12.25c/kWh after the 10% discount.
Energia's own notice puts the electricity increase at 4.73% on the average annual bill (about €1.67 a week) with the electricity standing charge up 5%, gas at 9.38% (about €2.74 a week) and dual fuel at 6.73% (about €4.41 a week), based on 4,200 kWh of electricity and 11,000 kWh of gas a year. It is Energia's first gas increase since 2022.

If you are in contract
Energia says discounted contracts are affected too: your percentage discount stays the same but is applied to the new, higher standard rates, and the change gives you a right to terminate.
What to do now
This increase is already in the rates Energia quotes today, so the question is whether a rival's new-customer discount beats what you now pay. Energia charges a €50 early exit fee if you leave inside the 12-month contract, so check your contract end date first. If you stay, ask Energia for its best existing-customer offer rather than sitting on the standard rate.
