Electricity Price Increases in Ireland 2026
Every Irish electricity supplier that has announced a price rise this year, newest first, with the date it takes effect, the headline percentage the supplier quotes, and what the change adds to the bill of a typical home using 4,200 kWh a year on the new-customer plan we track.

Every announced electricity price rise, newest first
The headline percentage is the figure the supplier quotes for its standard plan. The extra cost column is our own calculation for the new-customer 24-hour plan we track, so it can be smaller than the headline where a discount is applied to the new standard rate. Where we only hold the post-rise rate the column shows n/a.

Pinergy says a typical bill rises 7.6%. The 24-hour standard rate goes from 41.77c to 45.80c/kWh (up 9.6% on the unit rate) with the standing charge unchanged. The pay-as-you-go plan we track is priced at 10% off that standard rate.
Flogas price increase July 2026

Electricity and gas rates increased. The standard 24-hour rate is now 44.00c/kWh and Flogas lists no new-customer discount plan; the 28% loyalty discount is for existing customers only.
Electric Ireland price increase July 2026
8% from 1 July 2026
Residential electricity up 8% and gas up 7.7%, the first Electric Ireland rise since October 2022, affecting about 1.1 million electricity customers. The EnergySaver 24-hour new-customer rate we track is 31.95c/kWh after the change.
Yuno Energy price increase July 2026
9.5% from 1 July 2026
Electricity up 9.5% and gas up 11%. The Clean Export Guarantee rate rose from 15.89c to 17.16c/kWh (31.32c on the PV Generation partnership tier).
Why electricity prices are rising in 2026
The suppliers themselves cite wholesale and network costs. In its October notice Energia points to “continued volatility in global energy markets combined with increased network charges”, and Flogas gave a similar reason for its July rise: “continued volatility in global energy markets, coupled with geopolitical tensions and sustained pressures across the energy market”. Bord Gáis Energy and SSE Airtricity have not published a reason on the pages we were able to read, so we do not attribute one to them.
Network charges are the part of every bill that pays ESB Networks and EirGrid for the wires, and they are set by the regulator rather than the supplier. Unit rates carry most of each increase; the standing charge also rose at Energia, Bord Gáis Energy, SSE Airtricity and stayed flat at Pinergy. We only list a cause where the supplier has published one.
One thing going the other way: the PSO levy
From 1 October 2026: CRU-approved 2026/27 network charges add about €41.25 a year (€3.44 a month) to a typical domestic electricity bill after the regulator trimmed network revenue allowances by €138 million. Every supplier passes these charges through.
How to respond to a price rise
1. Switch to a new-customer discount
Every supplier's best rate is reserved for people who switch in. If you are out of contract, moving before the effective date locks in a discount off today's standard rate rather than next month's. Check your exit fee first; each supplier page above lists it. How switching works.
2. Compare the whole market
A 9% rise at one supplier does not change the ranking if rivals rise by the same amount a week later. Our cheapest electricity in Ireland table ranks every supplier on the full annual bill, unit rate plus standing charge, and carries the announced rates until they land.
3. Cut what you import
