Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

These terms govern your use of Solar Info ("we", "us", "our") at www.solarinfo.ie. By using our website, you agree to these terms.

1. What We Do

Solar Info is a free information resource and quote request service for homeowners in Ireland interested in solar panels. We provide:

  • Information about solar panels, grants, and installation
  • A directory of SEAI-registered solar installers
  • A quote request service that connects you with installers

We are an information platform, not a solar installer. We do not install solar panels or provide installation guarantees.

2. Quote Requests

When you submit a quote request:

  • Your details are shared with SEAI-registered installers in your area
  • Installers may contact you directly
  • We do not guarantee any installer will contact you
  • Any agreement you make with an installer is between you and them

We do not charge homeowners for quote requests. Our service is free for you to use.

3. Information Accuracy

We work hard to keep our information accurate and up-to-date, including SEAI grant amounts, solar generation figures, and installer details. However:

  • Grant amounts and eligibility rules may change, so always verify with SEAI
  • Solar generation estimates are based on county averages and may vary for your property
  • Installer information is provided by the installers and may not always be current

We recommend getting multiple quotes and verifying installer credentials on the SEAI website before proceeding.

4. Installer Listings

Installers listed on our site have represented to us that they are SEAI-registered. We display this information in good faith but cannot guarantee its accuracy. Always verify SEAI registration at seai.ie before engaging any installer.

5. Your Responsibilities

When using our website, you agree not to:

  • Submit false or misleading information
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access areas of the site you're not authorised to use
  • Scrape or copy our content without permission

6. Intellectual Property

Content on this website (including text, data, graphics, and design) is owned by Solar Info or used under licence. You may not reproduce or redistribute our content without permission.

Solar generation data is derived from publicly available Met Éireann and SEAI sources. SEAI grant information is sourced from official SEAI publications.

7. Limitation of Liability

Solar Info is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • Decisions you make based on information on our site
  • Actions or quality of work of any installer
  • Any loss arising from use of our website
  • Temporary unavailability of the website

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded under Irish law.

8. Installer Obligations

If you are an installer listed on Solar Info, the following terms apply to your use of our platform and any homeowner enquiries ("leads") you receive through it:

  • Leads are provided exclusively for your own business use. You may not resell, share, forward, or otherwise distribute homeowner details to any third party, including other installers, lead generation companies, or affiliated businesses.
  • You must handle all homeowner data in accordance with GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
  • You must not contact homeowners for purposes unrelated to their solar panel enquiry without obtaining their separate consent.
  • Breach of these obligations may result in immediate removal from the platform and termination of any active subscription without refund.
  • In the event of a breach, the installer agrees to pay liquidated damages of €500 per homeowner lead misused, resold, or shared in violation of these terms. This amount reflects a genuine pre-estimate of loss to Solar Info, including lost earnings, damage to platform integrity, and administrative and investigation costs.
  • The installer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Solar Info against all claims, losses, costs (including legal fees), regulatory fines, and liabilities arising from or connected to their misuse of homeowner data.
  • Solar Info reserves the right to pursue further damages where actual losses exceed the liquidated damages amount.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Irish law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
