Longford has some of the most affordable house prices in Ireland, which means homeowners often have more disposable income for home improvements like solar panels. The SEAI grant of up to 1,800 euros covers a larger proportion of system costs in Longford than in higher-priced counties, and the payback period can be shorter because homeowners are not stretched by mortgage payments. Properties purchased in Longford Town, Edgeworthstown, and Ballymahon in recent years are prime candidates for solar upgrades.
