Athlone and Mullingar anchor Westmeath's solar market

Westmeath's two main towns, Mullingar and Athlone, contain the majority of the county's residential solar installations. Both towns have seen significant housing development since the early 2000s, with modern estates along the N4 and N6 corridors. These newer properties have standard roof construction and good insulation, making solar installation straightforward. Athlone's position on the Shannon also gives it access to installers from both Roscommon/Galway to the west and the midlands to the east.
