Livestock farming dominates and solar can offset costs

Roscommon's agriculture is predominantly beef and sheep farming on grassland. While these farms have lower electricity demands than dairy or tillage operations, they still benefit from solar on shed roofs for lighting, water pumping, and electric fencing. The growing use of meal feeders, automatic scrapers, and water heating for calf rearing has increased farm electricity consumption.
