Cavan's drumlin landscape creates shading challenges

Cavan's landscape is defined by drumlins, the small rounded hills left by glaciers that give the county its distinctive rolling terrain. These hills can cast shadows on neighbouring properties, particularly during winter months when the sun is low. South-facing slopes on drumlins are ideal for solar, but properties on north-facing slopes or in narrow valleys between drumlins may see reduced generation.
