Wicklow's 1970s bungalows have ideal south-facing roofs

Wicklow has a high proportion of detached bungalows built in the 1960s-1980s, particularly in rural areas around Arklow, Rathdrum, Aughrim, and Tinahely. These single-storey homes often have large, uninterrupted south-facing roof areas of 40-60m2, which can accommodate 5-6kWp systems with ease. The low pitch of many bungalow roofs (20-25 degrees) is close to the optimal angle for solar in Ireland, making these properties some of the best candidates for solar in the entire country.
