Slieve Bloom Mountains and terrain variation

The Slieve Bloom Mountains along the Laois-Offaly border rise to 527m, the only significant elevated ground in the county. Properties on the flat lowlands away from the mountains, around Portlaoise, Mountrath, and Portarlington, enjoy wide open skies with no horizon shading. Homes closer to the Slieve Blooms, around Clonaslee and Rosenallis, may lose some low-angle winter sun behind the hills, but this has negligible impact on annual generation since winter output is modest regardless.
