Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas face unique installation challenges

Properties on the Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas are exposed to some of the strongest winds and salt spray in Ireland. Solar panel mounting on these coastal properties requires marine-grade stainless steel fixings and careful structural assessment. Some older stone-built farmhouses on the peninsulas have slate roofs that need specialist brackets. Despite these challenges, the strong irradiance at Kerry's southern latitude makes solar viable, and panels on sheltered south-facing walls can be an alternative to roof mounting in very exposed locations.
