Kerry's rainfall is misleading for solar potential

Kerry records some of Ireland's highest rainfall at 1,675mm annually, but this headline figure obscures the reality. Much of Kerry's rain falls in short, intense Atlantic showers that pass through quickly, followed by bright spells. The county's southern latitude means the sun sits higher in the sky than in northern counties, delivering stronger irradiance when it does shine. This is why Kerry ranks 8th nationally for solar generation despite being one of the wettest counties.
